As an artist and writer, expressive therapies are the cornerstone of their practice, including narrative medicine, somatic experiencing techniques, and movement to enhance the connection with deeper internal wisdom, allowing expression and healing to unfold in the most authentic of ways. After completing Dan Ward’s 200-hour Hatha yoga teacher training and Wanderlust Hollywood’s 200-hour Vinyasa flow training with Joan Hyman, Kathryn began to deepen their understanding of somatic experiencing. Through the experience of movement, their understanding and conceptualization of total embodiment practices, whole self experiencing, the central nervous system begins to develop and refine. The therapeutic relationship works on the central nervous system and brain, supporting neural pathway plasticity and revitalization through relational healing. Natural immersive experiences with nature and art-based therapies are critical ways of connecting to spirit and soul as part of a total healing practice as tools to address suffering, growth, and internal change processes; The subtle shift to the abruptly stark expansion.
